Cambridge Analytica to File for Bankruptcy Amid Facebook Scandal

The embattled political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica announced on Wednesday that it would cease most operations and file for bankruptcy amid growing legal and political scrutiny of its business practices and work for Donald J. Trump's presidential campaign, Nicholas Confessore and Matthew Rosenberg report on nytimes.com.

The decision was made less than two months after Cambridge Analytica and Facebook became embroiled in a data-harvesting scandal that compromised the personal information of up to 87 million people, Confessore and Rosenberg added.

What You Should Know About Cataract Surgery

About 24.5 million people in the U.S. have cataracts, a vision-blurring cloudy spot on the lens of the eye, Lindsey Konkel reports on consumerreports.org.

"When you're young, the lens is clear, like a raw egg white," says Uday Devgan, MD, a cataract surgeon and professor of ophthalmology at UCLA, Konkel wrote.

"But over time, it becomes opaque,"  Devgan noted, according to Konkel.

Surgery to replace the cloudy lens with an artificial one can improve vision, Konkel noted.

In Trump Era, the Death of the White House Press Conference

The presidential news conference, a time-honored tradition going back generations, appears to be no longer, Jill Colvin with the Associated Press reported today.

More than a year has passed since President Donald Trump held the only solo news conference of his administration -- a rollicking, hastily arranged, 77-minute free-for-all during which he railed against the media, defended his fired national security adviser and insisted nobody who advised his campaign had had contact with Russia, Colvin wrote.

But there are no signs the White House press shop is interested in a second go-round.  Instead, the president engages the press in more informal settings that aides say offer reporters far more access, more often, than past administrations, she adds.

"President Trump is more accessible than most modern presidents and frequently takes questions from the press," says White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, according to Colvin.
