Keep Muscles Toned for a Better Quality of Life

Fitness and health...

Maintaining muscle tone is easier than you think.

Paying close attention to one element throughout our lives can drastically change our quality of life as we age.  What is it?  It's muscle, theatlantic.com reports.

Maintaining it is one of the most important things we can do, and doing so doesn't mean hours in the gym. It's much easier than most people realze, theatlantic added.

New Tick Season Raises Disease Concerns

Tick surge likely...

Be on the lookout for a possible tick increase this summer.

Everybody knows about Lyme disease. But experts say the Northern United States may be in for a bad tick season this summer, raising concerns about Lyme and other scary tick-borne diseases, including the Powassan virus, which causes encephalitis and can leave people with permanent neurological damage, Dr. Perri Klass reports on nytimes.com.

“This spring definitely seems worse than others I remember,” said Dr. Catherine Wiley, chief of general pediatrics at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. “People are coming in from the yard with numerous ticks on them.”

For more, including tips on how to cope with a possible tick surge this summer: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/03/well/family/with-a-tick-boom-its-not-just-lyme-disease-you-have-to-fear.html?smid=nytcore-iphone-share&smprod=nytcore-iphone

Beware of Fake Friends Requests on Facebook

Be careful out there...
I received a Facebook friend request this week from a good friend I've been connected with on the social media service for several years.

That's odd, I thought so I emailed him and asked if he had really sent the request.

No, he replied, and warned, it's a fake. Don't open it.  He also sent along the excellent article below.

Fake friends requests are a scam, Jennifer Folly reports on usatoday.com.

Thanks for the good advice, Andy.
