Be proactive...
The doctor said I had to do this, but it's so weird.
Turns out there's a not-so-little secret in the medical field.
The secret is that informed consent in health care is commonly not-so-well informed, Mikkael Seekers and Timothy Gilligan, two doctors, write on nytimes.com.
It might be a document we ask you to sign, at the behest of our lawyers, in case we end up in court if a bad outcome happens, they added.
Unfortunately, it’s often not really about informing you.
What can you do about this?
They suggest that you start being more pro-active and take charge of your health with some very sound advice: https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/03/01/well/live/informed-patient-dont-bet-on-it.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&smvar=wkndbau&_r=0&referer=http://m.facebook.com
Ask why. Understand your situation.
