Putin: Back to the World of Empires?
Language matters. In geopolitics, it can change the way maps are drawn.
Vladimir Putin's notions about language and Ukraine are, of course, serious matters that probably will not be settled easily or soon.
In the meantime, "Putinism" in Ukraine, as The Economist calls it, could have unintended consequences elsewhere around the world.
The Economist staff asked themselves some "what if" questions about all this. What if some in London or Paris or Lisbon "grasped Putinism and ran with it?", they wondered.
