Big-Air Snowboarding to Make Olympic Debut

Soaring boarders...

Up, up and down, down in seconds.

Snow boarding comes from the same place as surfing does: Hawaii.  By which I mean it was invented by someone from Hawaii, John Jeremaiah Sullivan reports on nytimes.com.

"Snurfing" (i.e., snow-surfing) began with Robert Trumbull, a Honolulu newspaper editor who started snurfing in Yosemite while on vacation in 1938, Sullivan wrote.

This winter -- 80 years after Trumbull's breakthrough -- big-air snowboarding will debut at the Olympics, he added.

For a great story about a scary sport: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/02/01/magazine/winter-olympics-snowboarding-big-air.html
