The Moon: On the Far Side

Never seen before...

We always see just one side of the moon.

But what is its other side like?

There's always been a notion that the moon's far side is perpetually shrouded in darkness, George Dvorsky reports in io9.com.

But that's not the case, he writes, as a new visualization from NASA illustrates.

Using data acquired by the Lunar Reconnaisance Orbiter, NASA has created a new simulation of the moon to demonstrate the complete cycle of phases that are experienced from the moon's far side.

Take a look at a fascinating, short video of the moon as we can never see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdkMHkF7BaA
