The U.S. Navy's USS Hartford surfaced near the Arctic Circle in 2016.

Nearly invisible to the enemy as it stalks the oceans depths, the USS Hartford, a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered submarine, provides the U.S. Navy with a lethal combination of stealth and firepower, Jim Sciutto and Zachary Cohen report on cnn.com.
