Useful tools...

A growing trend among municipalities is to hire aerial photography companies to track local real estate changes, Suzanne Woolley reports on bloomberg.com.

"We've been using aerial photography in Darien for a decade," Anthony Homicki, town assessor, told The Allen Report today.

"With tools like Google and Bing maps and aerial updates from photo companies like Pictometry, we can zoom down on a property to check dimensions or changes," Homicki said.

"These tools provide 100 percent confidence in the detail of each parcel when needed," he added.

Homicki said "most all New England municipalities are using similar tools."
